Artist Reception: Becky Benson

The Stillwater Public Library is pleased to present Views from Within, an exhibit by artist Becky Benson. The show will be in the gallery in September and October. Meet Becky at the artist reception on Thursday, October 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. As an abstract artist, Becky has worked to free up her art, intuitively painting and letting her art speak for her.

Words That Attract

Join us at Stillwater Public Library on Friday, September 27 from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. for Words That Attract. Work with an artist to create magnetic poetry word strips that adhere to any steel surface like a refrigerator, school locker or magnetic board. Then design and decorate a box that contains your magnetic poetry word strips. These handmade magnetic poetry kits make terrific gifts!

Brick Party

Join us at Stillwater Public Library on the first Saturday of each month through November between 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. for Brick Party.  For kids of all ages to use their imagination to create using bricks derived from a word meaning "play well". Bricks will be provided by the library please leave yours at home. This is a time for open build but challenge ideas will be offered. Ages 5-12 can meet in the Storytime Room but older youth can build in the Teen Program Room during the same time. One creation per builder will be on display in the library all month. Drop-in DIY for Teens

Tiger Tracks 5K and Family Run/ Walk

Earn your stripes and join the Minnesota Zoo for their annual Tiger Tracks 5K to raise money for wildlife conservation. The race starts at the Shady Oaks Picnic area and follows a course through the zoo on outdoor trails. Minneapolis Monarch Festival

Celebrate the annual great migration of the monarchs from Minnesota to Mexico at Lake Nokomis this fall. Break out your best orange and black to walk in the costume parade or learn more about these incredible butterflies by tagging and releasing your own. Minneapolis Greek Festival

Experience a Taste of Greece at the Minneapolis Greek Festival at St. Mary’s Greek Orthodox Church. Try authentic Greek food, from gyros to baklava, while participating in the various cultural experiences available. Join us at Stillwater Public Library on Saturday, September 28 anytime between 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. for Post-It Note Art for Teens. Help transform the Teen Library Space from blah to WOW with some Post-It Note Art! You decide on the design (bring your own or use one we already have) to create and then, ready… set… post away! Ages 12-18.
