Wayzata Chilly Open

2020 Saint Paul Winter Carnival

The Winter Carnival is back for 2020! This year’s events will include ice carvings, merchandise and food sales, music and much more. Bring out the whole family and come join the fun at the recently renovated Rice Park and Landmark Center. This all-day event will be a fun time for everyone in the winter months. Travel Adventures and Food

Join us at Stillwater Public Library on Wednesday, February 26 at 6:30 p.m. for Travel Adventures and Food. Enhance your winter armchair travel reading with travel adventure stories and a sample of an international recipe.  We will hear stories and see photos from two former Peace Corps volunteers: Abbey Weiler, who volunteered in Thailand from 2017 - 2019, and Joshua Koepp, who volunteered in Guinea from 2016 - 2019.  River Market Co-op will provide samples and discuss a recipe from our international cookbook collection.   Read more about Travel Adventures and Food

Pop-Up Book Club for Adults

We invite you Stillwater Public Library on Monday, February 24 at 6:30 p.m. for Pop-Up Book Club for adults, with the theme of Looking Ahead in the 21st Century. Join library staff and neighbors for a thoughtful community discussion of our global world. Read one or more titles from our suggested list of four, and we will gather in the library for an evening of lively and insightful conversation. We will prepare focused questions based on the selected nonfiction books.

Legofy Yourself - Create Your Own Minifigure for kids 11+

Join us at Stillwater Public Library on Saturday, February 22 at 1:00 p.m. for Legofy Yourself - Create Your Own Minifigure. Let’s make minifigures! In this fun program, you’ll get the chance to decorate your own minifigure made out of resin. Learn the process of mixing resin and epoxy, and design to your heart’s content. For ages 11 and up.

Felted Acorn

Join us at Stillwater Public Library on Thursday, February 20 at 6:00 p.m. for Felted Acorn.  It’s amazing what colorful loose wool, warm water, and a little bit of soap can create! Learn how to create wet felted balls and turn them into decorative acorns. String them together to make a garland or display them in a decorative bowl. Class is for adults.

Jumanji Handmade Board Game - Art for Kids ages 6-12

Join us at Stillwater Public Library on Saturday, February 15 at 1:00 p.m. for Jumanji Handmade Board Game. We will design and create a handmade board game inspired by the book and films JUMANJI. Using basic board games as inspiration, we will first design our game boards with markers, tagboard, cardboard and collage. Then we will sculpt game pieces out of model magic clay. Armchair Travel Book Talk

Join us at Stillwater Public Library on Wednesday, February 12 at 6:30 p.m. for our Armchair Travel Book Talk. Our theme for 2020 Adult Winter Reads is Armchair Travel: Reading Around the World. This includes both nonfiction books, including travel books, memoirs and historical exploration, and fiction books set in locations around the world.  Bring your favorite travel title to talk about and share with the group. You may discover new locations to venture to - by plane or by book!

Over & Under the Snow Illustrations - Art for Kids, K-5

Join us at Stillwater Public Library on Saturday, February 8 at 1:00 p.m. for Over & Under the Snow Illustrations - Art for Kids. What do animals do in the winter? We will read a book that helps us see what is happening in the northland both OVER and UNDER the snow. We will illustrate our own winter landscapes, color them in, and then paint over them with a watercolor wash to make the colors POP! For kids in grades K-5. Snake, Rattle and Roll with Snake Discovery

Join us at Stillwater Public Library on Saturday, February 8 at 11:00 a.m. for Snake, Rattle and Roll with Snake Discovery. Slither into the world of reptiles by meeting several species that call Minnesota home! From diet to habitat and behavior, with plenty of fun facts in-between, attendees will learn what makes our cold-blooded friends so unique in this engaging program.
