Hudson on the Small Screen

Offering a glimpse of the year-round destination town of Hudson, the television program Discover Wisconsin—Hudson: Beauty on the St. Croix is airing for a second time on January 9. The 30-minute program first aired in March 2015 and takes viewers on a virtual tour of the riverside Wisconsin town. Read more about Hudson on the Small Screen

Ice, Ice Baby

For hearty Midwesterners, there’s never a bad time of year to indulge in an ice cream treat while outdoors. In fact, people have been enjoying Stillwater’s annual Winter Ice Cream Social at Mulberry Point in Lowell Park since the event began in 1950. After fading away for a period of time, the event was brought back approximately nine years ago. Hosted by the Washington County Historical Society, the event features free ice cream, coffee, hot chocolate and root beer floats, all provided by local businesses. Everyone Can Play

Youth Advantage has been helping connect Stillwater-area students in need with extracurricular activities since 2010. “Our mission is to assist children from families in who live or go to school in District 834 to access arts, athletics and educational enrichment extracurricular activities to help them find and pursue their passions in life,” says Suzanne Block, founder and executive director of the nonprofit organization. Photographer Finds Inspiration in Local Landscapes and Architecture

During his sophomore year of high school, David Parker decided to take a photography class. “I’ve been [taking photographs] ever since,” says the St. Paul native and 14-year Stillwater resident.

Parker mostly photographs bridges, buildings, the rising and setting sun, and finds his inspiration in the Stillwater area. “I love it—the history, the old buildings and the landscapes,” he says. “It’s fantastic to get out and wander around and see what’s there.” Read more about Photographer Finds Inspiration in Local Landscapes and Architecture
