Hudson on the Small Screen

Discover Wisconsin television program spotlights Hudson.

Offering a glimpse of the year-round destination town of Hudson, the television program Discover Wisconsin—Hudson: Beauty on the St. Croix is airing for a second time on January 9. The 30-minute program first aired in March 2015 and takes viewers on a virtual tour of the riverside Wisconsin town.

Exploring the historic downtown, restaurants and shops, Willow River State Park, the arts scene and city events, the program paints a vibrant picture of what makes Hudson a popular tourist destination. Highlights include visits to the Nova Restaurant & Wine Bar, San Pedro Café, Knoke’s Chocolates, the Octagon House Museum and the annual Hot Air Affair event in February.

Mary Weller, director of tourism at the Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau, says the scenic river town is an accessible and beautiful spot for a day trip or overnight stays. “It’s a family getaway, it’s a romantic getaway and it’s a year-round getaway,” Weller says. Tourism is important to the Hudson economy and keeps local businesses thriving, she says, and “visitors help contribute to the vibrancy of our town.”

For those who can’t wait until the broadcast, the program can be viewed online at discoverwisconsin.com. Viewers in the Twin Cities area can tune in to the program on Fox Sports North at 10 a.m. on January 9, as well as on Baldwin Telecom (channels 27 & 28) and channels 27, 32 and 52 on Comcast in St. Paul.
