Remember the Remembrance Walk

Now in its second year, the Remembrance Walk is a beautiful way for people to come together and remember they’re not alone when going through a tough pregnancy, miscarriage or infant loss. The event, which drew 900 people last year,  is organized by Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, a company that provides free remembrance photography for grieving families. “They deserve to be remembered,” affiliate photographer Jessica Person says of the babies who lose their lives too young. Mikayla’s Goal: Miss Minnesota USA

Mikayla Holmgren is a remarkable woman. After winning Minnesota Junior Miss Amazing 2015 and going on to compete in the national Junior Miss Amazing pageant, she has a new goal—Miss Minnesota USA. “We’re still looking at dresses,” says Holmgren, a native of Marine on St. Croix. “I have a personal trainer, I have a coach for my pageant.” Holmgren will be the first person with Down syndrome to compete in Miss Minnesota USA, which takes place November 25 and 26; the final event will be broadcast on NBC. “I’m really excited,” Holmgren says. Singing Her Way to Outstanding

Lillie Imm has been performing since she was very young. “When I was 3, I performed my first song and dance on stage,” Imm says. The eighth-grader, who attends Liberty Classical Academy in White Bear Lake, won Miss River Valley in February and moved on to Miss Minnesota’s Outstanding Teen competition in June. “I just love the experience,” Imm says. “It is so much fun. I made so many friends, and just have a great time singing on stage. I love doing the interview, too.” Read more about Singing Her Way to Outstanding
