Local Group Gathers to Build Model Airplanes

For most people, an airplane is something they sit inside to get from point A to point B. Something they watch whizzing through the air in their favorite war movies or coloring the sky at a local county fair. For Jim Anderson, planes have been a lifelong passion and something he’s come to love even more in his retirement. He creates beautiful historic model planes along with Larry Cherry, Obie Lillo, Tony Belka and Fred Dalleska who all share a similar passion for airplanes. “We have been building World War II models on a giant scale. Take a Riverboat Cruise This Fourth of July

All aboard for an evening full of fireworks. Celebrate the Fourth of July with dinner on the St. Croix River and watch fireworks burst overhead in Stillwater and Hudson. For dinner, hop on the Grand Duchess. This cruise offers herbed, baked chicken and barbecue ribs. Vegetarian options include pasta salad, Caesar salad, potatoes and veggies.

Another fireworks tour is also available. And if you prefer more traditional Independence Day food fare, don’t forget to bring some cash. Hot dogs and potato chips will be offered on both boats, along with a cash bar.

Take the Family to the Lake Elmo Fourth of July Parade

When there’s ice cream involved, it will never rain on your parade. Or, at least, it won’t be as bad if it does. For a good time, check out the 30th Annual Lake Elmo Fourth of July parade put on by the city of Lake Elmo. Participants can decorate parade floats however they want, and floats can be just about anything from strollers to lawn tractors. Like a pot of gold at the end of a summer rainbow, this parade leads to the Lake Elmo Rotary Club’s annual Ice Cream Social.
