Help the naturalist weed, and learn during this fun work event! Experienced and new gardeners alike are invited to dig in to the native plant gardens at the Maplewood Nature Center with the Naturalist. By the time you leave, you will be able to identify at least four native plants and four weeds. We will be transplanting plants, so there may be a chance to take some divisions home. Learn to Track Phenology with iNaturalist. We’ll meet one Friday every month March-May. We will walk and observe plants and wildlife happenings on the trails, and then record what we see back at the nature center. Join us at the Stillwater Public Library on Monday, April 23 from 7:45 PM - 9:30 PM for an evening of astronomy and stargazing with meteorologist Mike Lynch. The night will begin at 7:45 PM with an indoor orientation of the night sky with maps and constellation diagrams provided. Then we will go outside onto the terrace and take in the big celestial show overhead. Enjoy a constellation tour and share some of the lore of Big Bear, Little Bear, Cassiopeia, and many more. Join us at the Stillwater Public Library on Wednesday, April 11 from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm for Immigration in Minnesota. Presented by the Department of Human Services Resettlement Program Office, this training covers the basics of the refugee journey from the refugee camp through the extensive security vetting process to U.S. arrival. The presentation clarifies the legal definition of who is eligible to have refugee status, describes the Refugee Admissions System, the role of resettlement agencies, the community and the State of Minnesota.
