When speaking with Taia Morley about her career as an illustrator and designer, it is clear that she has succeeded in blurring the lines between work and play.

 

A plate of food made from the heart has the ability to make you feel loved. Pair that with a cultivated wine from a vineyard in France, Washington state, or Italy and you have a perfect evening with that someone special.

 

During Stillwater’s Harvest Fest event, held in Lowell Park on October 10 and 11, pumpkins weighing over 1,500 pounds took center stage. Additionally, attendees enjoyed pumpkin baking and decorating, a chili cook-off, micro brew beer and wine tasting, a Giant Pumpkin Boat Race on the St.

 

On November 7, Enchanté and Capture Salon hosted “Illuminate Fashion Show,” a standing-room only event at the salon on S. Main St., Stillwater, that showcased seasonal fashion trends worn by St. Croix Valley area women.

 

When it comes to midwest winters, kids and hockey seem to go hand in hand. With that in mind, the inaugural Sticks in Stillwater event on February 5-7 is set to be a festive celebration of all things hockey and will feature a weekend-long outdoor mite hockey tournament.

 

Has cabin fever taken hold of your family? Are the kids getting restless? Is everyone feeling cooped up, now that we’re in the final stretch of winter? With an abundance of parks, trails, and winter recreation areas available in the St.

 

Life is good in the St. Croix Valley, and two local businesses are helping make it even sweeter. This community is home to two shops that sell high quality, handmade chocolates and sweets year-round.

 

When it comes to clothes, toys and books, the littlest people in the St. Croix Valley area deserve nothing but the best. That’s the philosophy behind two Stillwater shops, Gammy and Gumpy’s and Lil’ Tulips.

 

It comes as no surprise that keeping kids active in Minnesota during the wintertime can be a challenge. It’s February, youth winter sports are winding down and families are getting restless for spring.

 

On a good day, Minnesota Public Radio (MPR) news host Kerri Miller can make the trip from her home in Hudson to MPR headquarters in downtown St. Paul in approximately 20 minutes.

 

The Stabenow family is finding success working together on three businesses in the Chestnut building in downtown Stillwater.

 

This year, Valentine’s Day falls on a Sunday, and downtown Stillwater businesses will be celebrating all weekend long by offering specials. Shops and restaurants along Main Street will offer deals, and horse-drawn carriages will take lovebirds on rides along the St. Croix River.

Many are known to brave the cold and enjoy winter activities like hiking and skiing, but few can say they’ve done so at night—or by candlelight.

 

Every year since 1990, thousands have gathered in Hudson to participate in the annual Hot Air Affair, the premier winter ballooning event and festival in the Midwest. This year’s event, “Paint the Sky,” will include approximately 35 hot air balloons.
