Protein Power

Apple Cinnamon Protein Shake

350 calories per serving, 100 calories without protein powder

• ½ frozen banana

• ½ apple

• ¼ cup of uncooked oats

• 1 cup almond milk

• Pinch of cinnamon, to taste

• Ice cubes, to taste

• Optional: 1 packet of Garden of Life Raw Fit vanilla protein powder

Put all ingredients into a blender; blend until smooth.

Flower Power: Plants with Healing Properties

Moon River Wellness herbalist Kali Higgins believes in the healing potential of nature. Higgins uses herbal tinctures to help clients with physical ailments and flower essences to aid spiritual, mental, physical and emotional struggles. She says that individuals respond differently to various plants and flowers; she provides pulse tests to help clients distinguish which herbs work best for their body. “I listen to people’s stories and the stories of the plants to understand how they can work together,” Higgins says. Fall-infused Cocktail from Afton House Inn

Fall—October in particular—is the season in which you can don sandals while bundling up in sweaters, admire the colorful leaves, and eat and drink to your heart’s content.
