Joan Molloy grew up in Oberlin, Ohio, and began playing the piano at age 5. From there she waited, perhaps a bit impatiently, to begin playing the violin at age 8. She hasn’t stopped since. Through the years, music has continued to be her way of life, profession and passion. Molloy is the founder and director of HeartStrings Studio in River Falls, Wis. She also has an extensive background of impressive experience, from the Duluth Symphony Orchestra to Chippewa Valley Symphony, among others. Santa Returns to Hudson

You might know it from years past as Reindeer by the Park but this year Hudson’s newly christened Santa by the Park event  is shaping up to be the best yet. Hudson has been hosting Christmas events since the mid-1980s (and likely longer), and Celebrate the Holidays Committee member Evy Nerbonne has been a part of them almost from the start. Where are you from, originally?

Reed Sigmund: Autumn is from St. Paul and I’m from Fargo, N.D. I came to the University of Minnesota as a child psych major.

How long have you been acting?

Autumn Ness: The first play I ever did was with the Children’s Theatre Co. (CTC), Hansel and Gretl in 1987, and I did shows there until high school … I toured with them, did main stage shows and loved it. Read more about Faces of the Grinch

Civil War Legacy

Six months ago marked the 150th anniversary of the Washington County Historic Courthouse. It also marked the grand opening of the exhibit, Life as a Civil War Soldier: The First Minnesota and Co. B, which teaches visitors about the history of men and boys from the area who fought in Civil War battles, and honors the 100th anniversary of the Soldiers and Sailors Civil War Monument on courthouse grounds. Stillwater Photo Contest’s Winners Highlight the Beauty of the City

Each fall, local professional and hobby photographers can submit their best photos for the chance to win the Stillwater Photo Contest, run by the Stillwater/Oak Park Heights Convention and Visitors Bureau. The winners, selected in September, submitted their photos for the theme Selfies and Scenes, with the requirement that all submissions be taken in Stillwater and showcase its natural beauty, community lifestyle or inhabitants.
