For whatever reason, many of us are fascinated with times gone-by. That’s why the 27th annual Little Log House Antique Power Show at Pioneer Village in Hastings, Minn., has been such a cross-generational hit for decades.
The purpose of the show is to give demonstrations of power sources from the 18th and 19th centuries (think water wheels), but also to look at the more than 45 restored buildings and a replica of the Hastings Spiral Bridge that spanned more than 40,000 square feet until the 1950s. It’s the one time each year the Bauer family opens the village to the general public.
Other than the obvious draw of the old buildings, highlights of the event are daily pancake breakfasts, parades and tractor pulls. Entertainment from 4 to 8 p.m. changes daily.
