Escape rooms are becoming popular as a great way to have fun in groups. These are adventure games where participants solve a series of riddles and puzzles using clues, hints and strategy to complete a task. The rooms are often themed and the events timed. After Willie Nielsen and his co-workers Josh and Judd did an escape room together as a team-building activity, the three began to consider creating one of their own. The result is Stillwater Escape Co.
Since the business opened, Nielsen says they’ve received a positive reaction, with bookings being planned months in advance. There is only one room available right now, but the team plans on expanding to three by 2019.
The current room is modeled as the office of a shoe factory owner, inspired by the building’s past as an actual shoe factory. Participants can solve puzzles and riddles from the hidden clues around the room.
Tickets run $20 per person and $15 each for groups over 10. Look out for date-night specials throughout the summer, especially if you’re looking for something a little more adventurous than pizza and a movie.
