Santa Returns to Hudson

This year’s annual holiday event promises a day of fun for families—along with some changes.
No Reindeer? No problem Hudson’s annual holiday event will go on this year with just the big man himself.

You might know it from years past as Reindeer by the Park but this year Hudson’s newly christened Santa by the Park event  is shaping up to be the best yet. Hudson has been hosting Christmas events since the mid-1980s (and likely longer), and Celebrate the Holidays Committee member Evy Nerbonne has been a part of them almost from the start. As for this year’s event, she predicts it will be a huge hit, like always.

Though Santa’s reindeer (the usual stars of the show) are unavailable this year, “the highlight, of course, will be a visit with Santa,” Nerbonne says. This particular Santa has a long history, as he’s been visiting Hudson families for more than 30 years and is now meeting the children of kids he posed for photos with decades ago.

The free event is held at Riverfront Athletic Club, along with activities held next door at Angel’s Pet World, and in the park and parking lot outside. The event, attended by hundreds of families, includes an exciting new petting zoo. Past favorite activities also return—a pet costume contest, bake sale, hands-on children’s crafts and nature center demonstrations featuring owls.
