For the 10th year, the Stillwater Rotary Club is holding a meetup/fundraiser, at which hundreds of people interested in contributing to community programs can learn who their neighbors are over samples from Stillwater’s major restaurants.
A $50 ticket to the Stillwater Sampler on January 27 at the Grand Banquet Hall, gets you samples from several local restaurants. You can graze on various main dishes, sides and desserts—learning the restaurants’ culinary signatures and meeting the chefs, then voting for your favorite with the ballot on the flip-side of your ticket.
A silent auction will sell items donated by community members and businesses—sports tickets, baskets of sundries, various services, handmade goods. There will be a live auction with items that often go for $500 or more, including cruise trips and vacation timeshares. Proceeds benefit a bevy of local charities, and the event usually raises around $30,000. Last year, the bulk of the money went to Music Means More, an organization that promotes music learning in Stillwater-area schools. This year, some funds will go to Riverside Valley Riders, who hope to build a specialized tack building that can accommodate horse-riding equipment for individuals with special needs.
