The cold, harsh Midwestern temperatures are hard on exposed skin during the winter months. By January, our energy, digestion, mental health and skin can feel the effects of our cold climate. But the Just For Me Spa in Stillwater, open since 1988 and run by CEO Heidi Rosebud, is an oasis of warmth, rejuvenation, and hydration, offering a whole body experience sure to make the winter blues disappear.
Just For Me offers more than just a full-service salon and fitness facility. Walk into the gorgeous cabin oasis and stress is left at the door, while guests inhale lavender and feel the gentle calm that reverberates through the building. The wellness options are endless, with fitness studios, personal training, and hair and nail services, parties and even weight loss management programs.
Water, a particularly healing element, is at the forefront of treatments used in this environment. The array of water treatments specifically designed to nourish the skin include a lap pool, saunas and whirlpools, which are used to revive and replenish dry skin and tired minds.
“Our main water treatments are in our soak tubs, which emit [small] bubbles that make you feel as if you’re floating,” says Berta Maass, the spa’s director of marketing. It isn’t only the special soaking that heals the skin, but the entire experience. “A massage therapist helps you exfoliate the skin before entering the tub,” she says. “Then you choose minerals you want to put in the tub and soak in your own private room for up to 30 minutes.” The treatment doesn’t end there. After the soak, the guest receives a hydrating massage with a special lotion, leaving skin revived and fresh.
“Many people also struggle with the lack of sunlight during the winter months, so guests can choose to have the changing therapy lights on during the treatment, which enhances mood,” Maass says.
Another option is the body polish treatment. “This is a full body exfoliation while the guest is covered in a tent on the massage table. Cool cloths are kept on the head and feet to keep the body temperature stable. This is followed by a blissful aromatherapy steam treatment,” Maass says. “Guests love how the skin feels smooth and hydrated, and the body is warm from the inside out ready to handle the air and wind.”
The spa also offers group packages, making it a perfect getaway for a girls’ weekend, after-holiday retreat or just time away. Gorgeous gathering rooms are beautifully decorated with an “up north” motif.
Lemon water is offered to hydrate and revive the digestive system, skin and hair, and catering is provided through Kowalski’s Markets. “Your water goal should be half your body weight in ounces,” Franklin says. “Sip on it throughout the day.”
Anita Franklin, director of fitness at Just For Me Spa, adds that “water helps detoxify our liver and kidneys.”
Just For Me also sells an array of products that help nourish the skin. “We carry several body lotion options; the best, in my opinion, are Aveda’s beautifying lotion and Stress-fix body cream,” Maass says. “Both are a little thicker and velvety-smooth, and are excellent moisturizing lotions.”
One happy guest, Laura David of Stillwater, feels Just For Me changed her life. “I have been a spa member for over three years, and it is the best decision I have ever made,” she says. “It’s not just a service; I truly feel cared for when I walk in the door. It is a one-stop shop for all of my personal-care needs.”
Just For Me is there to attenuate the harsh effects of winter, leaving skin, mind and body whole and well.
