Fourth Annual Earth Day Birding Festival Offers Educational Opportunities and a Chance to Get Outside

Celebrate Earth Day and enjoy the great outdoors at the fourth annual Earth Day Birding Festival at Carpenter St. Croix Valley Nature Center in Hastings. The event, held 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 23, features many opportunities to learn about birds, see them up close, and enjoy some fresh air and scenery. Programs include a Birding 101 class, an up-close raptors’ class, guided bird trips, bird-banding demos, a youth birding competition and a keynote talk from Jonathan Moore, park ranger and member of partnerships and volunteers of the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway.

All ages are welcome, and nature center executive director Jennifer Vieth says programs like this are crucial for increasing awareness about birds and promoting conservation. Proceeds from the event go toward K–12 environmental education programs and supporting Carpenter Nature Center. Reservations are required.
