How to Grow the Best Garlic

Garlic is really easy to grow and if you plant it mid October, you’ll be rewarded with spring garlic, garlic scapes and garlic cloves throughout the whole summer next year. Come to this class to learn about soil preparation, garlic growing season, harvesting, curing and storing garlic. You will also learn the difference between hardneck and softneck varieties.

Chef Maggie Presents: Vegan Pantry

Being vegan doesn't have to mean buying a lot of specialty vegan products. In this class chef Maggie will show you what she likes to keep in her pantry, easy substitutions for common ingredients, and she will demonstrate two easy recipes you can make with pantry staples.

Home Composting

Learn the science behind and the benefits of home composting, including information on different composting methods, recommended compostable materials, and common uses of compost around the yard and garden. U of M Extension Master Gardener volunteers are eager to share research-based gardening best practices that promote healthy landscapes, healthy foods, and healthy lives with the people in their community.

22nd Annual Artful Garden Tour

Enjoy some of the area’s finest gardens on this self-guided garden tour. Six beautiful gardens will be open for ticketed guests to explore. Tickets will be available on the days of the tour at the Historic Octagon House and at every garden on the tour. Stillwater artist Elaine Frederickson has created original floral artwork for the tour and limited edition print posters of her artwork will be available for purchase at the Octagon House. Also, for a nominal fee, the Hudson Trolley will provide alternate transportation for the tour on Sunday, June 27. Read more about 22nd Annual Artful Garden Tour
