The start of the school year at St. Patrick’s in Hudson will bring new students to school via the introduction of a 4-year-old kindergarten program, which St. Patrick’s will host as part of a community partnership with the district-wide program being launched by Hudson public schools. St. Patrick’s already has a preschool program, but according to the Rev. John Gerritts, pastor, this will allow a “nice transition” for the preschoolers into kindergarten, as well as bring new Hudson students into St. Patrick’s program. The school also offers a wraparound program of before- and after-school care, which Gerritts says has built-in flexibility for families since they are not required to participate every day, but only as needed. “With this option, students can be with us from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. if that’s what works best for their family,” he says.
