2. Beginning En Plein Air Oil Painting

Dirk Hanson will offer hands-on experience working outside, where the environment is constantly changing. Learn how to conquer painting al fresco by painting from observation. $90; 10 a.m.–5 p.m. September 9
3. Watercolor Painting

4. Triangular Loom Weave
Old School Art and Music Studio, Afton
If you’re interested in weaving, try out this class, running 9 a.m.–4 p.m. September 16. It offers tips on all types of weaving, as well as experience weaving on a triangular loom. Open to beginners and pros. $90.
6. Photography Intro
Phipps Center for the Arts, Hudson

5. Glynnis Lessing Surface Decoration
Phipps Center for the Arts, Hudson
Taking place in the Phipps’ new ceramic studio, this two-hour workshop by artist Glynnis Lessing is October 14. $44; 1–3 p.m.
7. Stained Glass Class
Phipps Center for the Arts, Hudson
Taught by Steve King, this three-week-long course at the Phipps offers the opportunity to create your own 8-by-10-inch stained glass design. The class runs Mondays and Wednesdays November 27–December 6. $139
8. Mudslinger’s Pottery Classes
Mudslinger’s Pottery, Afton

9. After-School Art Program
Off the Wall Studio, Stillwater
Give your child the opportunity to stretch his or her creative wings with classes to teach him/her the basics of painting, sculpture, printmaking, collage and art history, or try jewelry making, felting, weaving and more. 10. Advanced Studio Arts

If you have a student who wants to become a serious artist, this program is designed to allow your child to work more independently with a specific medium or technique, and also will help with developing a portfolio, series work and more.
