Phipps Center for the Arts Offers Plenty of Summer Fun

“Hudson in summer is really hopping!” says John Potter, executive director of the Phipps Center for the Arts. “We’re right across from the beach, there’s always activity in the park and there always seems to be a new restaurant to try!”

Want your kids to be in the heart of the action while learning something new this summer? Check out one of the dozens of classes offered during the seven weeks of Summer Art Camp. Here are a few favorites:

  • EXPLORING PHOTOGRAPHY — Learn how cameras work and create great images while exploring the history and science of photography.
  • PUPPETS IN PUDDLES — Study the creatures living in and around the St. Croix River, and then use puppets to perform in a live show.
  • JUST ADD WATER TO … THE MOON! — Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing with a nonstop science and art adventure.
  • AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MOLLUSK — Create 3-D models of superstar river mussels and showcase your creations in a competition at the end of the week.
