LOVE IS IN THE AIR. LITERALLY.
Popular Chairlift Speed Dating event returns to Afton Alps just in time for Valentine’s Day -- February 10!
WHY: Experts say one of the best ways to find romance is to look for it in areas of shared interest and activity. Where better to find a possible future partner than on a chairlift at Afton Alps?
WHAT: Afton Alps hosts its third annual Chairlift Speed Dating event to help skiing and snowboarding singles find love on the lift. The event is open to participants between 21 and 70 years old. Luxury matchmakers LUMA will pair compatible singles with others in their preferred age and gender category, and the two will jump on a chairlift and get acquainted on the ride up the mountain.
If you and your partner are a match — just like “two skis in a pod?” Great! Ski down together and continue your conversation in the lodge. But if your conversation hits an icy patch, no problem— you can request a new chairlift match for the next ride up. Don’t be shy about meeting as many people as possible. Guests are encouraged to bring friends.
WHEN: Just in time for Valentine’s Day — Saturday, February 10 from 3-4:30 p.m. Registration is at 2 p.m. Social hour following 4:30-5:30 p.m. Japa Salon will be on site to provide complimentary helmet hair fixes and little touch ups to freshen up for social hour.
COST: $35 per person, including a lift ticket (good after 3 until 9:30 p.m.), a drink ticket, participation in the event and entry for prizes. Ski or snowboard rentals are available for an additional $23. Tickets are available through the Afton Alps website.
WHERE: Afton Alps, a winter adventure destination for generations of Minnesotans, is collaborating with LUMA Luxury Matchmaking for this unique, and maybe even life-changing, speed dating event. On a mountain in the scenic St. Croix River Valley, less than a 30-minute drive from the Twin Cities, Chairlift Speed Dating participants will find nearly 300 skiable acres, 51 trails, 17 lifts and four terrain parks. Minnesotans who haven’t visited in the last few years will be in for a surprise: after being purchased by Colorado-based Vail resorts, this sprawling resort poured $10 million into re-imagining the guest experience with refreshed base area facilities, a powerful state-of-the-art snowmaking system and cutting-edge terrain park designs.
