It seems as if everyone has a favorite go-to flavor at Nelson’s Ice Cream in Stillwater. As owner Dave Najarian puts it, “People are very wed to their flavors.” Out of the 44 offered, Nelson’s tries to switch up about three or four to capture the seasonal changes.
Top pick for August is cookie dough ice cream, but the new and noteworthy flavor is aptly called treasure hunt, with peanut butter cups, M&Ms and chocolate chips well mixed in a peanut butter ice cream base.
Najarian’s favorite is still java Caribou chunk, with a Caribou coffee-flavored base and chocolate chunks mixed throughout.
