On a series of Wednesdays throughout the summer, a crowd will gather in Stillwater’s Lowell Park to enjoy classic cars. Cruisin’ on the Croix features 300 hot rods and vintage cars, live music, food and vendors. It has drawn significant crowds in past years, so much so that this summer, the number of events has been cut down to accommodate parking for local businesses.
“It’s people having a good time. They can drop their concerns for the day and just get lost in the cars and seeing people they haven’t seen in a while,” says Scott Zahren, co-founder of Cruisin’ on the Croix. Originally created as a community event for local car enthusiasts, Cruisin’ remains true to its roots by hiring one local vendor for food and maintaining a family-friendly inclusive environment. “It’s a lot of work,” Zahren says, “but if you stand back and just look at what’s going on, you think, ‘This is really cool.’”
