During his sophomore year of high school, David Parker decided to take a photography class. “I’ve been [taking photographs] ever since,” says the St. Paul native and 14-year Stillwater resident.

 

Bitter-cold winter mornings call for maple syrup and warm waffles. Or pancakes. Or French toast. Whatever your preference, restaurants throughout the St.

 

When 11-year old Danny Valerius of Stillwater was diagnosed with leukemia, members of his school community showed their solidarity by shaving their heads before he began treatment.

 

Art lovers and artists gathered together to attend the 42nd annual Marine Art Fair on September 19-20.

 

For residents of Stillwater and surrounding communities, there’s no place like home for the holidays. Throughout the month of December, Stillwater’s downtown area will be lit up with holiday decorations to create a sparkling backdrop for festive events and activities for people of all ages.

 

No one could possibly accuse Rebecca Kolls of being a slacker. The former WCCO-TV meteorologist has a career path that zigs and zags, and always involves high-energy involvement from the passionate gardener.

 

Have you ever reached the point in the flurry of holiday gift shopping where you start to feel overwhelmed, wishing you could stay in the comfort of your home and make those last few gifts? Or do you ever have difficulty finding a gift that has a personal touch? If so, shops in the St.

 

The Lowell Inn first opened its doors in 1927 on the site of the Sawyer House, a lumberman’s lodge built before Minnesota became a state. The inn quickly became a destination spot for travelers from both here and abroad.

 

Last month, when elementary school-age children learned about pilgrims at Plymouth Rock, they may have crafted paper hats and enjoyed Thanksgiving snacks of dried cranberries, pretzels and candy corn. We know, of course, that pilgrims aren’t merely people from childhood history lessons.

 

The holidays are filled with traditions, and for many, that includes an annual trek to a Christmas tree farm. One local favorite is Krueger’s Christmas Tree farm in Lake Elmo.

 

Beautifully decorated for the holidays, the Aurora Staples Inn in Stillwater will open its doors to guests during a series of three open-house events.

 

Dylan Hegh, Rebecca Van Amber, Joshua Gagnon, Chris Niebuhr, and Ashley Deane hiked the Routeburn Track near Queenstown during their recent trip to New Zealand.

It’s said that Santa Claus has a twinkle in his eye, but he’ll be no match for the lights on display at this year’s Twinkle Parade in Stillwater.

 

Christmas is a year-round celebration at the Käthe Wohlfahrt store in downtown Stillwater.
