Hudson Welcomes Holiday Tradition with ‘Light Up Night’ Event

Hudson welcomes the season with its sparkling celebration.
Santa Claus looks forward to strolling through downtown Hudson and meeting children at “Light Up Night” on Nov. 27.

It’s all in the name. At the annual Light Up Night celebration in Hudson, all are invited to experience the sparkling start to the season when gorgeous lights will be turned on throughout the town’s downtown streets.

First, the big man himself will be in attendance. Santa Claus will make his way down Second St. with an entourage of elf helpers riding on a horse-drawn carriage. (Note to young readers: The reindeer are resting up for Christmas Eve.) Santa will then give the signal to start the light show in downtown Hudson, indicating the city’s official start to the Christmas season.

The event is a local favorite and draws great crowds every year. Children can enjoy treats from Santa Claus, along with other activities such as face painting and cookie decorating, while parents can take advantage of holiday sales at local businesses. Other events that are part of Celebrate the Holidays in Hudson include a candlelight stroll on December 4 and Reindeer by the Park on December 5.

“[Light Up Night] is just a beautiful night filled with holiday cheer and family fun,” says Andrea Jorgenson, director of communications and programs for the Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau. “It’s a popular event with most local retailers in the downtown area participating.”
