One Hudson home goods store that offers more than just beautiful furniture.

One of the more interesting aspects of this home goods store is its ability to mix utilitarian items like home sprays and scented candles as best-sellers alongside larger country-style furniture.

Tucked away on Second Street in Hudson sits a beautiful boutique. Holly Moore Interiors and Home Goods isn’t like most storefronts; it also houses interior design setups by the owner Holly Moore. “[My shop] is both a retail boutique of home furnishings and lifestyle accessories, and a glimpse of my decorating style to promote my interior design work,” Moore says. “Downtown Hudson [is] a darling historic riverfront town on the St. Croix.”

Since opening in April, the shop has become a favorite spot to visit in town. “I may be a bit off the beaten path, but I think I’m worth seeking out, as my shop offers something different to see when shopping in Hudson,” Moore says. “I think this area is a little underserved by what I’m offering, and so I’m bringing just another option for the people who live in the St. Croix Valley. I think people are drawn to the country lifestyle, and so my shop was created to support that look.”

Moore’s aesthetic is evident in the merchandise she sells. “I offer my own curated items that I love and that represent my particular style,” Moore says. “There is a common feeling that threads through everything, from my furniture to my accessories. And I think I’d describe it as easy, comfortable, casually chic, friendly.”

Moore uses fabrics like linen, upholstery or wool to capture her style. From painted furniture to vintage-inspired wicker chairs, Holly Moore Interiors Studio and Home Goods has it all. “I love antique and vintage, and I mix it with more modern, like a lamp or a side table or a midcentury-style upholstered chair,” Moore says. “I offer lifestyle accessories, such as serving trays and teak bowls, bronze-handled condiment utensils and horn-handled cheese serving sets. Lanterns and hurricanes. Linen totes and old Oushak small throw rugs.” However, Moore’s best-seller isn’t furniture at all—it’s spray. Moore sells a product called Room Spray! that she sources from an apothecary shop in Charleston, S.C. “Everyone who walks in seems to comment on how nice my shop smells,” Moore says. “And they often walk out with it or the companion candle.”

Moore also uses the shop to showcase her interior design skills and to help people with their own interior design projects. “My shop tends to start a dialogue with people who come in and see it about their own homes, and it’s fun for me to hear about what they are working on or challenged by; and the next thing I know, we’re making a date for me to do an in-house consultation,” Moore says. Before opening her shop, Moore worked exclusively in design. “My business was originally built in the Chicago area, and I continue to serve Chicago clients,” Moore says. “So I travel for my work, and that gives me the chance to work in different styles beyond a country genre that is my boutique.” She is currently working on a beachfront building in Miami that is quite different from her shop’s style. “[It] is all white and glass and travertine marble.”

It’s clear that Moore’s aesthetic choices are creating options for many people in the Hudson area. “My offerings, though casual, are still sophisticated,” Moore says. “I stay away from the cliché. I think a country look can still be on- trend and stylish and tasteful.”
