Stillwater, the historic birthplace of Minn. and year-round tourist destination, is at it again with its annual Rivertown Fall Art Festival. This new and improved festival combines Stillwater’s spring and fall festivals into one giant fine-arts event.
“Before, the chamber hosted two average art festivals,” says Robin Anthony, executive director. “Now, we have combined them to form one higher-quality art festival.” In previous years, the spring festival experienced problems due to flooding, which is one reason fall was chosen as the ideal season to host the festivities. Another is, of course, the beautiful autumn views that are easy to get lost in as one wanders among the art.
This popular event, which draws more than 5,000 people from surrounding cities and states, includes over 100 artists from across the Midwest who specialize in fine art. Painting, pottery, jewelry and woodworking are among the many mediums created by these talented people.
“Painting and photography are crowd favorites,” Anthony says. This is likely because many local artists portray beautiful Stillwater in their unique work.
There will be live music for entertainment. This year, on Saturday evening, let loose as you listen to the music of The Good, The Bad and The Funky. This Minn. funk band wows crowds with world-class vocals, a five-piece horn section and soulful rhythms. Enjoy a beverage from the beer and wine tent as you listen.
“This event fits well into the community and culture of Stillwater,” Anthony says, one for tourists and locals alike. The Rivertown Fall Art Festival will take place on Saturday October 6 and Sunday October 7 this year. Visit discoverstillwater.com/events for more information.
