Building Inspiration Through a Special Community

The Inspiration community, more than a decade in the making, is the perfect place for a Midwestern family to settle down.

It can be easy for suburban areas to look and feel like the same place. But with 145 acres of restored native prairie surrounding it, Inspiration doesn’t run that risk. The land was first imagined as a space for homes in 2004. After several subsequent repurchases, Mattamy Homes became the developer, which began the process. When Mattamy Homes decided to sell their neighborhoods earlier this year, M/I Homes purchased five of them, including the idyllic Inspiration that reopened for sale in March.

The 328 inviting homes are being sold by M/I Homes as semi-custom, which means buyers still have options when it comes to their future home, but don’t start from scratch.

John Rask, vice president of land at M/I Homes, says there are plenty of aspects that make this development unique. From traditional architecture and front porches to an emphasis on house placement and landscaping, the area evokes an old-town Minnesota feel, but with beautiful natural elements.

“I think it’s something that’s not your typical suburban neighborhood,” Rask says. “Its focus on architecture and the relationship of homes to open-space components of the neighborhood really make it unique. It’s something that you don’t really see in a suburban market.”

Residents can expect to enjoy the tranquil atmosphere brought by not only the open prairie, walking and biking trails, and an on-site nature center, but also by a beautiful arrangement of homes and even a playground expected next year. The neighborhood is also well situated between highways 36 and 94, with easy access to the friendly downtown areas of Bayport and Stillwater.

Base prices for homes start at $340,000– $400,000
