Worldwide phenomenon started in Hudson.
They’ve popped up all over the community and beyond; the popular Little Free Library concept was started by Hudson resident Todd Bol to honor his mom, a book lover and avid reader. In 2009, Bol built the original one for his yard, loaded it with books, and added the essential ‘Free Books’ sign. He made some for friends and family, who enthusiastically embraced the project. In 2012, he and business partner Rick Brooks began to see the Little Free Library love grow as individuals either purchased pre-built libraries from Bol and Brooks or constructed their own according to the organization’s guidelines. Today, there are more than 20,000 Little Free Libraries around the world.
